Tanglewood Park. County park with excellent facilities. Sites are paved and fairly level. Some can be tricky though because of slope. Full hookups, wifi (I didn't use though, great walking trails, golf, tennis, 2 lakes, swimming pool. The list goes on! $31 a night a bit pricey but a nice treat with great location to Winston-Salem and Greensboro. Shelters available but not sure if there is a facility including kitchen.

Campfire Lodgings is located about 15 minutes north of downtown Asheville. It sits on top of a ridge that offers beautiful views of the mountains and the French Broad river. The campground was spotless all the time. The maintenance staff live on site and was always working on improvements and corrections. He emphasized to let him know if there was anything to be addressed. My site was surrounded by big stone gravel and was level but difficult for the dogs to walk around. There are roads and trails to enjoy within the campground area. The wood was pricey - 6.50 a bundle (5 gal paint container filled with wood) and I opted to not have a fire. There is a public area for those not located on the ridge so I took advantage of the cheaper site price (45 v 60) and sat in the public area to enjoy the view. The park had good reviews and it was nice but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here again.
