This is a beautiful park and we stayed at Big Meadow Campground. Lots of wildlife and the Appalachian Trail runs along the edge of the campground. During the summer there are very good Ranger programs good for adults and children.

    1. We liked this park, too. It was an easy walk down to the lake which was very pretty. Nice private showers. If you have pets, Virginia State Parks charge $5.00 per night per pet, so that can get a little pricey.

  4. Spent 3 nights at Big Meadows in Shenandoah National Park. Enjoyed seeing the snow leftover from the storm. Lots of deer walking through the campground. It was busy for early November - mostly tent campers braving the below freezing temps at night. Convenient to Harrisonburg and JMU.

  6. Terry started a campaign on Rv net about this and it took off and was rescinded by legislature so no charge now for pets in VA State Parks!
